Frequently Asked Questions

What Vast Pay is, what it will do, and where things stand. If your question is not here, get in touch.

What is Vast Pay?

Vast Pay is a payment platform being built in Monrovia, Liberia. It is designed to act as a neutral layer between the country's mobile money networks and banks, so a customer can pay a business regardless of which wallet either side uses. Vast Pay does not replace the wallet or bank account you already have — it connects them.

Is Vast Pay available yet?

Not yet. Vast Pay is still in development and is not open to the public. No accounts can be created and no payments are being processed. We will announce availability on this website when it launches.

Is Vast Pay a bank?

No. Vast Pay is a payment service provider. It is designed to move money between accounts and wallets you already hold. It does not offer bank accounts, loans, or interest-bearing deposits.

Which mobile money networks and banks will Vast Pay work with?

Vast Pay is being built for the mobile money networks Liberians already use — Orange Money and Lonestar Cell MTN Mobile Money — with connections to commercial banks planned for a later phase. Supported providers will be listed on this site as each one becomes available.

Which currencies will Vast Pay support?

Liberian Dollars (LRD) and United States Dollars (USD). Businesses will be able to choose which of the two they receive their settlements in.

What is a Vast Pay ID?

A Vast Pay ID is a unique identifier for your account. It is designed so that someone can send you money without needing to know which mobile network or bank you use — they enter your Vast Pay ID instead of a phone number tied to one particular network.

How will paying a business work?

The intended flow is: you scan the business's QR code or search for it by name, choose the items you want from its catalogue, and send a purchase request. The business confirms it and generates a QR code for that specific transaction, which you scan to approve the payment. Both sides then receive an itemised digital receipt.

Will I get a receipt for every transaction?

Yes. Vast Pay is designed to produce an itemised digital invoice for both the sender and the receiver on every transaction. Those records are stored to the account and cannot be deleted, so both parties keep a reliable history.

Can my staff collect payments on behalf of my business?

Yes, this is planned. A business will be able to link trusted staff accounts so they can accept payments on the business's behalf. Money collected routes directly to the business account, staff cannot withdraw it, and the business can see which staff member collected which payment and remove that access at any time.

What is Health Vault?

Health Vault is a savings feature for medical costs. You will be able to set money aside in it at any time, and those funds are restricted: they can only be spent with verified clinics, hospitals and pharmacies, rather than withdrawn as cash or sent to other users. It is intended as a safety net for medical emergencies.

How will Vast Pay protect my account?

Accounts will be protected by more than one factor — a PIN, a password, MFA, and biometric sign-in where your device supports it. Transaction records are designed to be permanent rather than editable, so both sides of a payment keep a record neither can quietly change.

What will Vast Pay cost to use?

Pricing has not been published yet. We will publish our fees on this site before launch, so they are clear to everyone before anyone signs up.

Who is Vast Pay for?

Both individuals and businesses. For individuals, the goal is to pay any business without worrying about which wallet you happen to hold. For businesses — from market traders and small shops to larger retailers — the goal is to accept payment from any wallet and get clear records and sales data from it.

Do I need to be technical to use Vast Pay?

No. Vast Pay is being designed for everyone, including people using digital payments for the first time. The everyday actions — paying a business, sending money, checking a receipt — are meant to be simple, in plain language, and to need no technical knowledge. For businesses and more experienced users, the same app is designed to go deeper: itemised records, sales and spending breakdowns, and staff management. The aim is that the basics stay simple while the detail is there for anyone who wants it.
